Why should I be Spiritual?

Why do I need to be spiritual?

To understand this lets consider a simple analogy of the tree. In order to nourish a tree the roots have to be strong and nourished. Though the roots are invisible but provide nourishment to the trunk, leaves, flowers and fruits of the tree. If I decide to ignore the invisible and take time out to clean and water each leaf, flower and fruit of the tree (watering only what is visible) the result will be that even after a lot of effort, time and energy invested the tree will still wither away. And I start thinking – “I did everything I could, to clean every single part of the tree but it still didn’t work!!!” This thought of course can be quite frustrating but because the root itself was ignored my efforts though a lot were futile. If we compare this with our own life – there are various aspects to our life – my health, my career/professional development, my family relationships, finances, social obligations etc. and while most of us would love to have a fine balance between all these different aspects we need to nourish the root of this life tree. The root is “myself”. The self is at the root of this life tree because if I am happy and healthy I can do justice to every aspect of my life but if I am not okay or if I am either mentally, emotionally or physically in pain, I will not be able to do complete justice to any aspect of my life and moreover would just end up feeling frustrated that inspite of all the efforts I make I am still not successful. This thought can be very damaging to our self esteem.

This connection and fortification of the self is what spirituality teaches us. Most modern day problems, stress related issues emanate from lack of knowledge of the self and lack of connection with the inner self. Because I don’t understand myself well I am not in a position to understand and accept others the way they are nor am I able to understand and perceive situations in an unbiased way. Spirituality gives us the answers from within. When I restore connection with myself and understand myself at a deeper level there is a great deal of self acceptance which translates into my action and relationships with others.

How to Keep Your Attitude UP When Life Brings You DOWN…Marc and Angel

“I’m exhausted and so very tired of all the anxiety, negativity and stress. Too often my mind is consumed with draining thoughts, and every muscle in my body seems tense. It hurts. I don’t want to feel this way anymore. I don’t want to feel like I live in a whirlwind of constant pressure and exhaustion. I don’t want to just ‘get by’ day to day…”

Our minds are incredibly powerful. They can bring us down or lift us up at a moment’s notice. How we think about things literally changes everything!

Whenever I’m coaching someone who’s struggling in the trenches, I gracefully shift their focus from what they don’t want to what they DO want. I remind them that what you focus on grows stronger in your life, and that the best time to focus on the positive and take responsibility for your happiness is when you don’t feel like it. Because that’s when doing so can make the biggest difference.

You may not be responsible for everything that happened to you in the past, or everything that’s happening to you right now, but you need to be responsible for undoing the thinking patterns these circumstances create.

It’s about thinking better so you can ultimately live better…

Think about ONE self-limiting belief you have—one area of your life where you believe you absolutely CANNOT make progress. It can be about any part of your life you hope to change—your health, your weight, your career, your relationships – anything at all. What’s one thing you’ve essentially decided is a fact about your place on Earth?

And then I want you to shift gears and think about ONE time, one fleeting moment, in which the opposite of that ‘fact’ was true for you. I don’t care how tiny of a victory it was, or even if it was a partial victory. What’s one moment in time you can look back on and say, “Hey, that was totally unlike ‘me’—but I did it!”? Because once you identify the cracks in the wall of a self-limiting belief, you can start attacking it. You can start taking steps forward every day that go against it—positive daily rituals that create tiny victories, more confidence, gradual momentum, bigger victories, even more confidence, and so on.

And yes, I also understand that we all face our share of incredibly difficult circumstances, many of which are not the results of anything we’ve done. But we still have choices when it comes to how we’ll respond to these seemingly-random tragedies that afflict us.

The choice is as simple as it is universal:

  • Grit our teeth and try to change the unchangeable, and become frustrated and bitter when we realize we can’t.
  • Let it be, let go and step forward.

Paradoxically, the first choice is easier because it’s our default action. We want full control because feeling out of control is utterly terrifying.

Empowering yourself to relinquish control of the wrong attachments is one of the greatest gifts you can give yourself—the ability to exist peacefully and productively amidst the unchangeable and uncontrollable chaos of life.

Grass is Blue…Futility of Argumnts!

The donkey told the tiger 🐅: ′′The grass is blue”. The tiger replied: ′′No, the grass is green”.

The discussion became heated up, and the two decided to submit the issue to arbitration, and to do so they approached the lion🦁, king of the Jungle.

Before reaching the clearing in the forest where the lion was sitting on his throne, the donkey started screaming:
′′Your Highness, is it true that grass is blue?”.
The lion replied:
“True, the grass is blue”.

The donkey rushed forward and continued:
′′The tiger 🐯 disagrees with me and contradicts me and annoys me please punish him”.
The king then declared:
′′The tiger will be punished with 5 years of silence”.

The donkey jumped with joy and went on his way, content and repeating:
′′The grass is blue”…

The tiger accepted his punishment, but he asked the lion:
′′Your Majesty, why have you punished me, after all, the grass is green.?

The lion replied:
′′In fact, the grass is green”. The tiger asked: ′′So why do you punish me?”

The lion replied:
′′That has nothing to do with the question of whether the grass is blue or green. The punishment is because a brave, intelligent creature like you can’t waste time arguing with a donkey, and on top of that come and bother me with that question”.

The waste of time is arguing with the fool and fanatic who doesn’t care about truth or reality, but only the victory of their beliefs and illusions. Never waste time on discussions that make no sense. There are people who, for all the evidence presented to them, cannot understand, and others who are blinded by ego, hatred and resentment, and the only thing that they want is to be right even if they aren’t.
