Impact of Words!….Norman Vincent Peale

– Words are dynamite. If you constantly use negative words concerning your health, you may stimulate negative forces that can adversely affect you. Words, habitually used, are reflections of strongly held thought, and thoughts can affect internal organs negatively or positively. But this fact also works to your advantage in that, forces favorable to well – being may be stimulated by the constant use of positive words or affirmations. And it is a fact that positive thinking is stronger than negative thinking as faith is stronger than fear.

– Another point at which to attack tension is in your conversation or talk. Actually, you can easily talk yourself into being tense. A verbal statement is simply an articulated thought. So, when you talk tension you are thinking tension; and as you think tension you develop a tense state which results in high-tempo talk. Manifestly then, if you stop making tense and nervous remarks you will in time starve the thought that produces tense talking. The process can be encouraged by speaking calmly and by reducing the tempo of speech, using quiet, composed tones and words.

Abu Dhabi: World Music Day was marked in Abu Dhabi on Thursday with more than 80 musicians from 20 different countries including the UAE taking part in a performance.

Originally started in France in 1982, World Music Day has become a global event that is celebrated on June 21 in 120 countries and 800 cities. The event in Abu Dhabi was organised by Alliance Francaise and took place in the World Trade Centre Mall Abu Dhabi. Participants included musicians from 12- to 50-year-olds, including Emirati composer Eman Al Hashemi and the Emirati hip hop dance group Yabeelah.

“For the last five years, we have organised World Music Day in Abu Dhabi. The event has a long story that goes back to 1982. In the beginning, it was just a French festival but has now become a worldwide festival with 120 countries taking part,” said Ludovic Pouille, Ambassador of France to the UAE.

“The basic principle of World Music Day is everyone can come and take part, it is open for professionals and amateurs. Today, we have 80 musicians and artists performing in Abu Dhabi covering all kinds of music — they come from 20 different countries including the UAE, France, Brazil, Portugal, Japan and Columbia,” he added.

Pouille said that music is a universal language, making World Music Day a good opportunity for dialogue between different cultures.

“It’s a great moment for the dialogue of cultures, music, and civilisations. The year 2018 is also the year of cultural dialogue between France and the UAE, and it is also the Year of Zayed, and so we are very proud to have this event and to also have our Emirati friend Eman Al Hashemi opening the festival.

“We are very proud to also have many children in the audience from French schools and other private and public schools. There are many people from all nationalities attending, and so I think this is the best place to organise the World Music Day,” he added

“Music is an international language that links everyone and that’s why this event has always been so successful, it’s open to everyone,” he added.

Look Within…..A St0ry

There is a story of the man searching for his lost key outside his home, under the streetlight. When a stranger inquired if she could help him look for the lost key, he was most grateful. After thirty minutes of fruitless searching,

the stranger asked, “Where did you drop your key?” “oh,” he replied, “I dropped it inside the house.” “but why are you looking outside under the street lamp if you dropped it inside the house?” She asked. “I have no light inside

the house, so I came out here to look where there is light.”

This is precisely what we do every time we look outside of ourselves for the solutions to problems. We live inside, we think inside, our humanity resides within, yet we spend time ceaselessly looking outside of ourselves for the answers

because we fail to illuminate the inside with our thoughts. We resist the principle that thought is everything we are, because it seems easier to look outside.

10:55 am: How Yoga reached west?

Yoga became an international sensation and a huge hit, especially in the western countries. According to an estimate from AFP over 200-300 million practised Yoga today.

Yoga became known in the West towards the end of the 19th century as it was undergoing a major revival in India under the Hindu teacher Swami Vivekananda (1863-1902). His book "Raja Yoga" lays the foundations for a modern and international yoga. In the first half of the 20th century, Western texts began to detail yoga postures, also known as "asanas". The emphasis on these postures and their sequences, such as the famous Sun Salutations, is a recent development, says India specialist Sita Reddy in "Yoga, The Art of Transformation" (2013).
